As Kinkizi East moves closer to the next general elections, a new name has emerged , Benedicto Rutemba, a calm yet determined figure, is seeking to represent Kinkizi East Constituency in Parliament.
Rutemba, an executive in the private sector, says he’s stepping into politics not for power, but to offer “honest, people-centered leadership.”
“I’ve seen how our people struggle. I’ve spent time listening to them, and now I’m ready to be the solution,” Rutemba told Hii5 Radio reporters during a recent community meeting.
Rutemba says his years in business taught him how systems work and how leaders can either build or break them. He’s now hoping to use that experience to bring development closer to the people.
“I’m not coming with empty promises,” he says. “I’ve built teams, managed budgets, and solved problems. Now I want to do the same for my community.”
In the past months, Rutemba has quietly walked village paths, joined church gatherings, and spoken to youth groups. His campaign has no flashy convoys or large billboards but instead focuses on listening and direct engagement.
Born and raised in Kanungu, Rutemba says he understands the weight of representing people who raised him. His call for leadership comes, he says, not from ambition, but from a desire to give back.
