Shamim Malende and her ex-husband, Andrew Ssebunya, are reportedly no longer on good terms following their recent public separation. Malende confirmed that their relationship has ended and accused Ssebunya of taking some of her properties, including vehicles.
Following the breakup, Malende moved out of their shared home in Kawempe, Kampala, and is now living independently in Wakiso. The split has attracted public attention, particularly because of both individuals’ active roles in local politics.
Despite their personal differences, Ssebunya has pledged to continue supporting Malende politically. He emphasized that they have built a strong legacy together in Kampala district and remain committed to advancing her political career.
“I am living alone now because she has moved to Wakiso. I will continue supporting her politically, and I believe she deserves the NUP party flag again to represent the people of Kampala in parliament,” Ssebunya told a local YouTuber.
He also stressed that he harbors no ill feelings toward Malende and intends to help maintain her public image despite their separation. Many were surprised by his remarks, which show a clear distinction between personal issues and political collaboration.
Currently, Shamim Malende is vying for the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, competing against Zahara Luyirika, the current Speaker of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), in a race that has drawn widespread public interest.
Ssebunya’s ongoing support offers a rare example of ex-partners maintaining a professional relationship for the greater good. Political analysts suggest that his backing could boost Malende’s chances in the upcoming party elections and serve as a positive example of prioritizing political commitments over personal conflicts.
