Everyone’s favorite wildlife warrior is officially 4! If you’re a reader from Down Under, you celebrated Grace Irwin’s birthday yesterday. But for much of the world, today is the big day for not-so-little Grace Warrior.
The Irwin family took to Instagram to celebrate Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell’s daughter, and the photos from their celebration are everything. Not only is Grace as cute as can be (no surprise there), but her birthday cake is so fitting. The dessert was decked out in adorable little animals, including a giraffe, elephant, and zebra. And as the granddaughter of the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin — and as a resident of the Australia Zoo — a love for wildlife is in her blood … and her backyard.
In her sweet Instagram tribute, Bindi celebrated the fact that March 25 is not only their munchkin’s birthday, but her wedding anniversary.
“I still can’t believe Grace was born on our anniversary,” Bindi wrote in her caption. “Thankful every minute for this incredible family of mine. How did I get so lucky?” The family of three posed in front of some stunning sunflowers, and Grace had a whole host of animals — some real, and some stuffies — sitting at her festive picnic table.
Meanwhile, Powell posted a video from the sunny and joyful day. “Happy Birthday to my best buddy in the whole wide world,” he captioned his post. “If these first four years are a glimpse of the life ahead of you, I can’t wait for what the future holds. I love you and being your dad is what I’m most proud of.
In the footage, Bindi told Grace it was her 4th birthday. But the strong-minded little girl insisted it was her 16th birthday. “Already?” Irwin asked. ” … They really are right. You just blink your eyes and suddenly your 3-year-old is 16.”
The rest of the family appeased Grace, with her Grandma (or “Bunny”) Terri Irwin wishing her a Happy Sweet 16 in the comments.
“Grace, if you ever look back on this video, I want you to know that you are the most beautiful, kind, thoughtful, smart, amazing person, and I love you with all my heart, and [your dad] does too,” Bindi told the camera. “You are the best part of our lives, our whole family.”
“We just feel so lucky that you chose us. I’m so lucky to be your Mama,” she continued, getting emotional.
The video then cut to throwback footage of the “16-year-old” spending time with all her furry (and scaly) friends at the Australia Zoo. See what we mean? Perfect cake.
